I am honored to lead Colorwave daily as a community-driven movement toward closing the social capital, opportunity, and wealth gaps that have permeated American society for decades. For me, the work is personal. As someone who grew up in California during the height of innovation, I witnessed the enormous societal change and wealth created and how certain communities lack access. Thus, my mission is to ensure the next generation of diverse leaders has access to these spaces and can experience the career and economic mobility this sector offers.
The biggest highlight of leading and serving Colorwave is simple: our fellows. Their ambition, tenacity, and willingness to advance others' careers and their own are awe-inspiring. Seeing them embody our value of community daily keeps me energized to continue serving and building this powerful community of leaders!
The people are the magic. Our fellows, board members, industry partners, speakers, and volunteers share this desire to broaden access to opportunity. This shared value and our prioritization of forming genuine relationships create an experience for those we serve in our programming that is transformational over transactional. This deep focus on relationships has powered our success. This manifests itself as an alum spending time to coach a new fellow, a speaker providing inspirational career guidance during our speaker series, our industry expert network hosting informational interviews, or an industry partner seeking Colorwave candidates for open roles. You'll notice our logo is a series of interlocking letters, which was an intentional design nod symbolizing that the change we desired would require deep interconnectivity. All the people involved represent the thread that binds Colorwave and has made our current success possible.
I see Colorwave as a model for helping close the wealth gap by creating over $1 billion in estimated economic impact for those we serve. Our fellows will be the entrepreneurs, executives, investors, and civic leaders who not only rewrite the economic stories for their families but also serve as role models for future generations in opening up doors for those who look like them. They will build the new American Dream that exemplifies what's possible when you provide equal access to opportunity in this country!
