OSA taught me so much of the skills that I need for my arts career. It was a place for me where I felt totally comfortable to be myself and I don't think I would have gotten this invaluable experience at any other school in the area.
Being from Oakland means that I have style/an aire of coolness that surrounds me. I feel being from Oakland has allowed me the privilege of being exposed to people from many different backgrounds, the development of a liberal mindset, and independence from an early age.
Singing backup for Coldplay. (Obviously)
Mr. Rosenberg had such a huge impact on me as a student. I joke that he's the only reason I showed up to school in the 11th grade, but really he supported me so well in a time when I was in a lot of emotional pain. There was nothing that he did in particular that made me feel this way, other than just his presence and the way I felt so seen by him. I think I just really vibed with him and he really understood me as a person and that connection was really helpful and necessary for me during such a rough time. I felt he also picked books that were incredibly relevant for brown and black students and did a great job at letting us form our own perspectives on things.
