The odds for many underrepresented professionals to transition and thrive within America’s innovation economy are thin. Despite comprising 31% of the US workforce, Black and Latine workers only account for roughly 12% of the tech workforce. The odds are bleaker in the venture-backed ecosystem where these communities account for less than 5% of startup executive leaders and receive, collectively, 2% of venture capital funding.
Colorwave has been a solution to these problems by creating a virtuous ecosystem of investors, companies, allied leaders, and high-potential, underrepresented professionals committed to disrupting network barriers for hiring and broadening access to careers in the innovation economy that unlock economic mobility and make the American Dream more of a reality. Through our programming, the professionals we serve have a better understanding and support to help them thrive in this sector that continues to generate massive wealth for various stakeholders.
Despite our enormous impact, we are at a critical inflection point. Labor market turmoil, the assault on DEI and equality for overlooked communities, and election uncertainty have strained our budget and put our critical work in jeopardy. Thus, as we close the year, we are rallying our community to help us close our gap and enter 2025 with strength. This Fall Giving season we have a collective goal of raising $250K to support our programming and you can help us make that happen in a few ways:
Colorwave’s impact is undeniable and we strive to make access to opportunity possible for many more individuals, for years to come. But we can only do that throught supporters, like you!
